Pennypack Farm
Millions of people worldwide suffer from hunger and undernutrition. A major factor contributing to this problem is food insecurity, a condition that exists when people lack sustainable physical or economic access to enough safe, nutritious, and socially acceptable food for a healthy and productive life. The lack of access to high quality fresh produce has been identified as one of the leading causes of the obesity epidemic.
Montgomery County is one of America’s the most affluent places to live. However, more than 20% of the counties’ residents are at risk for hunger. The high cost of housing, health care and utilities make it difficult for many of our neighbors to access quality food.
Pennypack Farm offers great opportunities for anyone who wants to do volunteer work in a healthy and educational environment. Coming to Pennypack Farm gives you a chance to support the Farm’s mission of community-supported agriculture and agricultural education and lets you experience farm work. I was at the farm yesterday and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. I worked on the herb garden with very nice ladies and stayed some time more after they left. When you watch the video you will see how peaceful it is to touch the earth and be close to its creatures.
Pennypack Farm also gives you great opportunities to learn more about agriculture and horticulture.
We have an event coming if you are curious to learn how food grow in containers? Join us for a virtual program on May 5th at 7:00 p.m. https://bit.ly/3sYsAUY
